Stock transmission/clutch is the fuse under extra power

Symptoms

Clutch slip or failure, damaged synchros or gearbox after power-adder mods or hard launches.

Cause

Grassroots says the clutch and transmission commonly act as the driveline's weak link, and that even light power modifications can destroy the stock WRX gearbox if driven hard; STI drivetrain is the strong option but a difficult swap.

Budget for clutch and drivetrain upgrades along with power mods, and drive within the stock parts' limits.
