Honda Civic EK (1996-2000) wheel fitment: 4x100, 56.1 mm hub, factory sizes and what fits

Published · Updated

What wheels fit a 1996-2000 Honda Civic?

Short answer: US EK Civics use a 4x100 bolt pattern with a 56.1 mm hub and M12x1.5 nuts torqued to 80 ft-lb (108 N·m) per Honda's 1997 service manual and reference sites. Factory tires run from 175/70R13 on the 1996 CX/DX up to 195/55R15 on the 1999-2000 Si. Owners commonly run 15x6–15x7 or 16x7; 5x114.3 wheels do not bolt on, and 15x8 is a poor match for the usual 15-inch tire sizes.

The basics: 4x100, 56.1 mm hub, M12x1.5

Facts as of 2026-11-06. Honda does not print the bolt pattern, hub bore or lug thread for the EK in the sources we read. Two wheel-spec reference sites (BoltPattern HQ for the 1998 Civic, and a 1995-2001 TiresWheels page cited on the fastening entry) give 4x100, a 56.1 mm center bore and M12x1.5 nuts. BoltPattern HQ also says the conical (60 degree) seat is typical; Honda prints none of that.

Wheel-nut torque is clearer. Honda's 1997 Civic service manual (read via Operation CHARM) and both reference sites give 80 ft-lb, which is 108 N·m. Note that Honda's 1993 manual and TSB 92-031 for the earlier 1992-94 Civic list 110 N·m, so do not mix those figures with an EK. Re-torque after a short drive is the usual practice on the reference sites.

Offset: Honda prints none in sources read. BoltPattern HQ and TiresWheels both say about 45 mm for these years, so treat that as a reference figure, not a factory trim table.

Factory wheel and tire sizes by trim

Tire sizes come from a tire retailer's year pages for 1996-2000, plus Honda's dated 1999 Civic Si press release for the Si wheel. Honda prints no wheel width or offset for these sizes in sources read.

Aftermarket sizes that fit

What does not fit, and EG/EK swaps

Any 5x114.3 (5-lug) wheel needs a 5-lug hub conversion on a US EK. A forum note points out that only Type R models in this family (DC2 Integra Type R, JDM EK9) left the factory as 5-lug; US EK Civics did not.

EG (1992-95) and EK share 4x100, 56.1 mm and M12x1.5 on the reference sites, and BoltPattern HQ calls wheels from any 1992-2004 Civic dimensionally compatible when offset and center bore match. An EG OEM 14-inch wheel is listed as a fit on that basis. The 1999-2000 Si 15-inch alloy is larger than any EG factory wheel, so check fender clearance at your ride height before putting it on an EG, or an EG 14 on a lowered EK.

FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a 1996-2000 Civic?

Reference sites give 4x100 with a 56.1 mm hub and M12x1.5 nuts. Honda does not print those three figures in the sources we read; wheel-nut torque of 80 ft-lb (108 N·m) does appear in Honda's 1997 service manual.

What size tires came on a 1999-2000 Civic Si?

Honda's 1999 Si press release lists 15-inch machine-finished alloys with 195/55R15 tires; a tire retailer lists the same size for 1999 and 2000. Honda prints no width or offset for that wheel in sources read.

Do EG wheels fit an EK?

They share 4x100, 56.1 mm and M12x1.5 on the reference sites, and BoltPattern HQ calls 1992-2004 Civic wheels cross-compatible when offset and bore match. Check clearance, especially for the larger Si 15-inch wheel.

Will 5x114.3 wheels fit a Civic EK?

Not without a 5-lug hub conversion. US EK Civics are 4x100; only Type R models in this family left the factory as 5-lug.

Is 15x8 a good size on an EK?

Forum advice says the usual 15-inch tires (195/55 and 205/50) are too narrow to mount safely on a 15x8. Stick to 15x6–15x7 or move to 16x7 with a matching tire.
