What fits a Honda Civic EK (1996-2000), and what goes wrong with it?
As of 2026-10-26, ChassisDex has 25 fitment answers, 10 known problems and 6 build entries for this car, each linked to its sources and rated with a confidence tier. Generation basics first, then every entry.
| Years | 1996-2000 (US) |
|---|---|
| Trims | Trims on a tire retailer's 1996-2000 pages: CX, DX, LX, EX and HX every year, GX from 1998, Si 1999-2000, Value Package 1999. The retailer gives no body styles and Honda's Si press release names none; a forum poster calls the 99-00 Si a coupe. Check the door jamb or a VIN decoder. |
| Engine | Honda prints no engine codes in sources read. Honda's 1999 Si press release gives a 1.6 L DOHC VTEC with 160 hp, an 8,000 rpm redline and 111 lb-ft at 7,000 rpm. Engine codes are tier 1 (community-reported, not a Honda source): the enthusiast del Sol guide's donor list names the Si engine B16A2 (160 hp at 7,600 rpm) and gives D16Y7 for 96-00 CX/DX/LX and D16Y8 for 96-00 EX. HX and GX engines are not described in sources read. |
| Notes | Reference sites give 4x100, a 56.1 mm hub and M12x1.5 nuts for US EK Civics; Honda prints none of these in sources read. Wheel nut torque is 80 ft-lb (108 N·m) per Honda's 1997 service manual and both reference sites; note that Honda's 1993 manual and TSB 92-031 (1992-94 Civic) list 110 N·m. Honda's 1999 press release gives the 1999 Si four-wheel discs, 10.7 in. front and 9.4 in. rear; a fan site instead lists the 99-00 Si with 10.3 in. fronts. Forum threads describe drum-rear 1996 and 1998 EX cars; sources read do not give rear brakes for every trim. The 1996-97 Civic del Sol was sold alongside the EK but is filed under the EG generation. |

Wheel and hub specs
| Bolt pattern | 4x100 |

| Hub (center) bore | 56.1 mm |
| Lug thread | M12x1.5 |
| Lug seat | conical (60 degree), per one wheel-spec reference (BoltPattern HQ); Honda prints none in sources read |
| Factory wheel sizes |

| Note | Tire sizes come from a tire retailer's year pages (1996-2000) plus Honda's 1999 Si press release. The retailer lists 175/70R13 for the 1996 CX/DX and 185/65R14 for the CX/DX from 1997; these are different model years, so the CX/DX size is split by year (1996 13-inch, 1997-2000 14-inch). Offset: Honda prints none in sources read; BoltPattern HQ (1998 page) and TiresWheels (1995-2001 page) both say 45 mm, so no factory offset is listed by trim. |
