2022+ Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ wheel fitment: 5x100, 56.1 mm hub bore, factory sizes and what fits
Published · Updated
What wheels fit a 2022+ Toyota GR86 or Subaru BRZ?
Short answer: The 2022+ GR86 and BRZ use 5x100 with a 56.1 mm hub bore (the same hub as the 2013-2020 86, BRZ and Scion FR-S) and M12x1.25 studs torqued to 120 N·m. Factory wheels are 17x7.5 +48 or 18x7.5 +48. At stock height, 18x8.5 around +42 to +45 is the safe step up; 17x9.5 +45 and 18x9.5 +40 need coilovers. Brembo cars need spoke clearance checks, and aftermarket wheels with a bigger bore need 56.1 mm hub rings.
The basics: 5x100, 56.1 mm hub, M12x1.25
Facts as of 2026-11-02. The second-generation GR86 and BRZ kept the 5x100 bolt pattern; it did not move to 5x114.3. Subaru Japan's own BRZ accessory catalog lists its STI and BBS wheels for this car as PCD 100, and the wheel guides we read agree.
The hub bore (center bore) is 56.1 mm, the same figure the wheel guides give for the 2013-2020 Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S, and the same as other Subaru factory wheels. One Japanese blog rounds it to 56 mm. Studs are M12x1.25 per the guides and that blog. Toyota's wheel-nut torque table gives 120 N·m (about 89 ft-lb) for the GR86 from March 2022, the same figure as the earlier GT86, and the owner's manual excerpt we saw says not to oil the studs or nuts.
We found no factory statement of the nut seat type for this generation, so match lug nuts to what your wheel maker specifies.
Hub bore and hub-centric rings
Factory Toyota and Subaru wheels for these cars already match the 56.1 mm hub. Many aftermarket 5x100 wheels are made with a larger bore, commonly 73.1 mm and sometimes 67.1 mm, so they can fit several cars. On those wheels a hub-centric ring that steps the wheel's bore down to 56.1 mm keeps the wheel centered on the hub rather than on the lug nuts. Guides recommend aluminum rings for track use, because brake heat can soften plastic rings.
The ring entry on this site was researched on the 2013-2020 car; the 2022+ car has the same 56.1 mm hub per the wheel guides, so the same ring size applies. Check the wheel's listed bore before ordering rings.
Factory wheel sizes by trim
US-market sizes. Brochures and press releases give the wheel diameter, width and tire; the +48 offset comes from wheel guides rather than a factory document.
| Wheel | Tire | Trims |
|---|---|---|
| 17x7.5 +48 | 215/45R17 | GR86 base; BRZ Premium (2022-25, dropped for 2026) |
| 18x7.5 +48 | 215/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 | GR86 Premium and TRUENO Edition; BRZ Limited, tS (2024+) and 2026 Series.Yellow |
| 16x6.5 +48 | 205/55R16 | Japan-market GR86 RC only, per one blog |
| 17x7.5, 43 mm inset (GR forged accessory) | Not stated | 2022 GR86 dealer accessory; 17 lb, track 10 mm wider than stock |
| 19x8 inset 48 (GR forged accessory) | 215/35R19 | Japan-market GR86 accessory set |
| 18x7.5 +48 STI and 18x7.5 +45 STI/BBS | 215/40R18 | Japan-market BRZ accessories (Subaru Japan catalog) |
Aftermarket sizes that fit
- Stock height: 18x8.5 at about +42 to +45 with 225/40R18 is the conservative upgrade; two guides call it the widest size before you need coilovers.
- Lowered cars: one guide lists 17x9 at +35 to +42 as the aggressive size. The ZD8 rear track is about 10 mm wider than the ZN6, so a size that sat flush on a 2013-2020 car pokes about 5 mm more per side at the rear.
- Coilovers: 17x9.5 +45 with 245/40R17 is close to bolt-on per one retailer, with a 3 mm front spacer for most coilover bodies. 18x9.5 +40 with 235 to 245 tires fits without cutting per a retailer and vendor posts.
- 255-265 tires: plan on an adjustable rear upper control arm (about -4 degrees of camber) or a trimmed rear bumper tab.
- Wide wheels at +40 and up can touch the tie rod at full steering lock.
Brembo brakes, winter wheels and swapping between generations
Brembo four-piston fronts are standard on the BRZ tS and GR86 TRUENO Edition and optional on the 2024 GR86 and GR86 Premium. The factory 18s clear them, but many aftermarket 17s do not, so check spoke clearance for the exact wheel model.
The factory tires are summer tires, so a second set is common. A 17x7.5 +48 set works on every trim. 16x6.5 +48 matches a Japan-market base car, but that rests on one blog, and 16s should not go on Brembo cars.
Between generations: the 2022+ 17x7.5 +48 wheel fits non-Brembo 2013-2020 cars (same pattern, hub and studs). The 2013-2020 17x7 +48 base wheel likely fits a non-Brembo 2022+ car, but no source tested it there, and it does not clear Subaru's four-piston calipers.
What we could not confirm
- A factory document giving the +48 offset (offsets come from wheel guides)
- The factory lug-nut seat type for 2022+ cars
- 16-inch wheels on a US-market car (one Japanese source only)
- Clearance of 2013-2020 factory wheels over the 2022+ Brembo option

FAQ
Is the 2022+ BRZ 5x114.3?
No. Subaru Japan lists its ZD8 accessory wheels as PCD 100, and wheel guides agree on 5x100.
What is the hub bore on a Scion FR-S, Toyota 86 or GR86?
56.1 mm. Wheel guides give 56.1 mm for the 2013-2020 86, BRZ and FR-S and for the 2022+ GR86 and BRZ, so factory wheels from either generation center on the same hub.
Do I need hub-centric rings on a GR86 or BRZ?
Only if the wheel's center bore is larger than 56.1 mm. Many aftermarket 5x100 wheels use 73.1 or 67.1 mm, so they need rings that step down to 56.1 mm; aluminum rings are suggested for track use. Factory wheels need none.
What is the lug nut torque on a 2022+ GR86?
120 N·m, about 89 ft-lb, per Toyota's torque table for the GR86 from March 2022. The owner's manual excerpt we saw says not to oil the studs or nuts.
