| Years | 2022-present |
|---|---|
| Trims | US Toyota GR86: base and Premium (2022+), TRUENO Edition (2024 brochure). US Subaru BRZ: Premium (2022-25, dropped for 2026), Limited (2022+), tS (2024+), Series.Yellow (2026, 350 cars, manual only). Japan GR86: RC, SZ, RZ. ZN8 = Toyota code, ZD8 = Subaru code. No Scion version. |
| Engine | FA24 2.4L (2,387 cc, 94 x 86 mm) naturally aspirated flat-four, 228 hp in Subaru's US releases. Six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, rear-wheel drive with a Torsen limited-slip rear differential. UK final drive 4.100 (manual) and 3.909 (automatic). |
| Notes | Wheels: 5x100 bolt pattern (not 5x114.3), 56.1 mm hub bore, M12x1.25 studs, 120 N·m (about 89 ft-lb) wheel-nut torque. Factory sizes: 17x7.5 +48 with 215/45R17 (GR86 base, BRZ Premium) and 18x7.5 +48 with 215/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 (GR86 Premium and TRUENO, BRZ Limited, tS and Series.Yellow). Japan's base GR86 RC used 16x6.5 +48 with 205/55R16 per one blog. Brakes: base cars have floating calipers (two-piston front, one-piston rear; 294/290 mm rotors). Brembo four-piston front / two-piston rear is standard on the BRZ tS and GR86 TRUENO Edition and optional on 2024 GR86 and Premium. Front knuckles differ by badge: most BRZs use aluminum, the GR86 uses cast iron, which matters for brake upgrades. |
