Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ (ZN8/ZD8, 2022+): First steps mods

Added · Updated

What are the best first steps mods for the Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ (ZN8/ZD8, 2022+)?

It depends on the car’s condition and how you use it. These are the 1 first steps build entry we have sourced for this car: Check ZD8 recalls and bulletins before you modify (Confirmed). Each lists caveats, related problems and sources so you can match it to your goal.

Check ZD8 recalls and bulletins before you modify Confirmed

Run your VIN through NHTSA's recall lookup: 2022 cars had a rear turn-signal recall, and some dealer-accessorized GR86s got new load labels. Subaru also has bulletins for check-engine codes fixed by an ECM update, a 2022 automatic TCM update, and a fuel delivery pipe bolt torque change (now 9.0 N·m). Raise these while the car is at the dealer.

Caveats: Recall eligibility is by VIN. Subaru bulletins are written for the BRZ; GR86 owners should ask a Toyota dealer for the equivalent.

Related issues: Rear turn signals may not work (2022 BRZ and GR86 recall), Check engine light for cam timing, evap leak-check or ECM communication codes (ECM update), Automatic transmission code P0613 (2022 BRZ TCM update), Wrong load-capacity label on some dealer-accessorized GR86s
