Added · Updated
What are the best brakes mods for the BMW 3 Series (E46, 1999-2006)?
It depends on the car’s condition and how you use it. These are the 1 brakes build entry we have sourced for this car: Know your factory brake size before swapping E46 brakes (Reported). Each lists caveats, related problems and sources so you can match it to your goal.
Know your factory brake size before swapping E46 brakes Reported
The 325i runs 300 mm front rotors, the 330i 325 mm, and the M3 the same diameter but 28 mm thick. Any swap between them changes caliper carriers or spacing and is brake work, not a simple bolt-on.
Caveats: How much machining or which brackets an M3 front swap needs is not confirmed; sources conflict. Follow the service manual for torque and bleeding.
Parts: E46 factory brake rotor sizes (325i, 330i, M3), E46 M3 front brakes (325 x 28 mm rotors, calipers and carriers)
