Nissan 350Z (Z33, 2003-2009): Reliability mods

Added · Updated

What are the best reliability mods for the Nissan 350Z (Z33, 2003-2009)?

It depends on the car’s condition and how you use it. These are the 2 reliability build entries we have sourced for this car: Rev-up 350Z: track oil use and check the bulletin history (Confirmed); 2007-2008 350Z: test oil pressure for gallery gasket leaks (Reported). Each lists caveats, related problems and sources so you can match it to your goal.

Rev-up 350Z: track oil use and check the bulletin history Confirmed

On a 2005 Track or 35th Anniversary manual, or a 2006 manual, check the dipstick at every fill-up and ask whether the engine was replaced under NTB07-088.

Caveats: The bulletin dates from 2007; whether it still helps depends on warranty status.

2007-2008 350Z: test oil pressure for gallery gasket leaks Reported

Fit a mechanical gauge with the oil hot. Below 14 psi at idle or 43 psi at 2,000 rpm, suspect the oil gallery gaskets and fix them before the engine wears.

Caveats: The 14 / 43 psi limits are the 2007 manual's (oil at 80 °C); one shop uses 12 / 44 psi on hotter oil. The repair means removing the timing chain case. P0011 / P0021 codes can have other causes.
