A salvage-yard or crate 2.5 L from the same engine family bolts to the NC mounts and transmission. Delete and plug the balance shafts, keep the NC oil pan, pickup, crank pulley, sensors and lower intake (ports opened up), and tune it.
Caveats: Emissions legality varies by state. The 2.5 is about an inch taller. Removal routes differ: top pull with the cowl out, or engine, transmission and subframe out the bottom.
