Infiniti G35 (V35, 2003-2007 sedan and coupe): Drivetrain mods

Added · Updated

What are the best drivetrain mods for the Infiniti G35 (V35, 2003-2007 sedan and coupe)?

It depends on the car’s condition and how you use it. These are the 2 drivetrain build entries we have sourced for this car: Replace worn diff bushings to stop wheel hop (Limited); Add a 6MT VLSD to an open-diff or automatic G35 (Limited). Each lists caveats, related problems and sources so you can match it to your goal.

Replace worn diff bushings to stop wheel hop Limited

If the car hops on launch, knocks on clutch take-up or shows oil at the diff mounts, replace the three rear diff bushings; polyurethane sets are sold for both the 350Z and G35.

Caveats: Shop and owner reports only (tier 1). The diff has to come out. The G35x was not mentioned by the seller.

Add a 6MT VLSD to an open-diff or automatic G35 Limited

Owners swap in a 6MT 350Z or G35 viscous LSD. On manual cars it is reported as a bolt-in; on automatics it also shortens the gearing and may need a driveshaft flange change.

Caveats: Forum-only. Not for the G35x.
